is the character in a gang/law enforcement agency/ citizen:
Citizen
state your industry and occupation:
Registered Nurse (certified in general medicine, pediatrics and OB/GYN) at Maui Memorial Medical Center
personality:
Joslin is not someone that you would call super outgoing, but she is a very determined person. Once she has her mind made up to do something or her heart set on it, she finds a way to get it done. She can come off as a little stand-offish when you first meet her, but once she gets to know you she's much more easy-going. She has a soft heart when it comes to those who are injured or in trouble and she finds herself wanting to help those in need. However, she will refuse to help an addiction (i.e. if you're hooked on pain meds and you're purposely injuring yourself to get more, she will refuse to help you get them), but she will find a way to help the person realize that they need to overcome the place that they've put them-self in. She is highly intelligent when it comes to bookish things, but she does lack a little in the social department. Because she spent so many years with her nose in a book, she lacks certain "common sense" when it comes to "street smarts".
She doesn't like anyone who has large dogs due to her experiences as a child and refuses to trust the dogs because of this. She knows, rationally, that not all dogs are the same, but she has a very hard time bringing herself to trust them. For this reason she's always been more of a cat person. She loves any excuse that she can get to be a big kid, spending a lot of time in the pediatric wing of the hospital (if she's not needed elsewhere) playing with the kids or just sitting with them and watching movies. She does her best to try and keep the kids happy and their minds off of any problems that they may be facing, especially the cancer patients. Joslin's always doing what she can to make the patients smile, both young and old, and can't stand to see anyone upset that is in her care.

scars/tattoos/piercings:
Her only "piercing" is her ears. A few very light scars on her right forearm from a dog scratch (about 3 inches long)

unique skills and abilities:
Joslin's doesn't really have any skills or abilities that she thinks are unique or even worth mentioning (she does have a talent of sorts with being able to make her patients smile even when they're dealing with the hardest part of their diagnosis)
strengths and weaknesses:
Joss loves to take care of the children in the hospital the most and always comes up with new ways to keep their minds off the pain, but she has a problem with growing very attached to the kids in her care. For this reason she mostly tries to work in other wings of the hospital, but spends what free time she has helping the kids feel better.
weapons:
Who needs a weapon when medical training teaches you pressure points that can take a man down or even the easiest things to inject into the bloodstream to kill a man without leaving a trace.
background history:
Joslin was born in a very small town in upstate New York and moved with her parents to Baton Rouge, LA a little while after the birth of her baby sister. Her dad was a professor of literature, thus fueling her love for reading. Her mother, the lawyer, always made sure that both girls knew right and wrong and what their rights were should they be falsely accused of anything. This made a lot of the other kids a little uncomfortable with being friends with Joss because she always knew how to twist things to where she never got caught doing anything wrong.
During high school Joslin spent more time with her nose in the books to maintain a 4.0 GPA than she did anything else. She didn't really participate in any after school clubs or waste any time dating. She always had a date to formals and prom, but they almost never dated beyond the dances. She felt that boys were a distraction from her goals of getting into college and most of the boys that she went to school with only wanted one thing anyways. A fact proven by her younger sister, who welcomed little Liam the fall after Charity graduated from high school herself. Their parents were disappointed in the father of their grandson more than the fact that he was welcomed into the world so early in his mom's life. Liam's dad left Charity when she told him that she was expecting. He told her that she could either get an abortion and they could stay together or she could have the baby and lose him. The decision was easy for the young mom. Joss was the first person who ever held baby Liam and absolutely adores her nephew.
After graduating at the top of her class, Joslin's parents gifted her with her car as a congratulations. She made the decision a little over 2 years ago to move out here and be her own person. While she absolutely loves her parents, she wanted to make her life where they were not known in the community. It took her just a week of searching for an affordable apartment before she started packing her belongings to prepare to move. Her mother cried the day that she left but she promised to call often. Liam gave her a bit hug and a sloppy kiss on the cheek before he returned to playing with his toy cars. This made Joss tear up a little just thinking about how much she was going to miss seeing her nephew and the rest of her family every day, but she was ready to make her life her own.
She did end up dating for a guy from her freshman English Lit class while in college during her entire college career. It was the first time that she felt that she had met a partner who could not only provide her with both the mental needs and the physical needs that she felt were needed in a relationship. When Joslin made the decision to move here to Hawaii, they ended up breaking up as he preferred to remain on the main land. She discovered about a month after moving that she was 3 months pregnant (because of the busy lifestyle that she led during her last semester at college, she didn't keep track of her periods as well as she normally would have). She gave birth 4 days past her due date to a beautiful baby girl, Kristine Rachel. Crazy hours at the hospital make it difficult to find a babysitter sometimes, but her mother has an old friend of hers that lives on Maui, so the nights Joss has to work late, Kristine usually stays over with "Auntie Sarah".
