Zoe Redbird is a perfectionist by default. She is her own worst enemy and critic and often takes out a lot of her anger and frustration on herself. She is very moody, having bouts of highs and lows. She has trouble expressing how she feels so she holds it all in. Her moods can switch like a lite, one minute she will be fine, happy and good and the next she will be angry, sad, anxious, paranoid, suspicious, etc. Zoe is very artistic and loves to draw and paint. She also enjoys writing. When she isn't doing those she does cosmetology, doing people's hair and makeup. Making others look and feel beautiful.
Zoe fails to see the beauty in herself. She has low self-esteem and is blinded to the fact she can be and is beautiful. Most of her self-esteem issues are related to her eating disorder which she has had since her father died as a teenager. Eating disorder and drug abuse has plagued Zoe most of her life. She has an addictive personality. She has been clean several times and relapsed several times.
Zoe is close to her family and is very family oriented. She would do anything for them. She is very close to her older brother Nathan, who means the world to her. He has helped her through thick and thin.
Overall you get a storm of emotions from Zoe, from the loving and caring to the I just can't stand you and don't give a damn what you think side. It's a matter of which side you catch her on or what side of her you get to see.

background history:
Zoe "Birdy" Redbird was born October 26th, 1996 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She is a bright and smart girl. She is very creative. A loving girl who cares deeply about her family. Zoe is close to her family. She was especially close to her father, Chris Redbird. When he passed away it tore up her up. Zoe always felt that she was two people. Zoe what's the normal girl. The nice girl. Birdy was darker side of her. Zoe's addiction side. Birdy was the inner demons seemed to get the better of her. Around the age of fourteen Zoe developed anorexia and it pretty much dominated her life. It still does to this day. When Zoe was sixteen she became addicted to alcohol, self harm, weed and eventually heroin. She never completed school due to being in and out of rehab and treatment facilities as a teenager. Her addictions were the focus of her life and they caused a lot of complications and strife with her family. It wasn't something that she was proud of.
At eighteen Zoe meet a lovely lady by the name of Rae. She was deeply in love with her even though Rae had her fair share of addictions as well. They both shared a common vice: Heroin. Rae was trying to kick it as well. It was the one time in her life she felt nearly complete. Rae filled a void. Most importantly Rae was the person that was there to tell Zoe she was okay. Being with Rae made Zoe more motivated to stay clean. She took the steps to recovery seriously and for the first time in a long time, looking forward to sobriety. The relationship with her mother began to get better, it was less fractured. The eating disorder was still around, but she was able to manage it. At least she thought. "You know that girls is doing you some good," her brother Nathan said. "Your more like my old sister again." Smiling he gave sister a hug and kiss. Rae did liven her up. She given her meaning and Zoe didn't want to lose that.
After a year and of half of being together, things were going well for Zoe. Zoe got her GED. She was clean and sober and was in recovery with her eating disorder. She even bought a house and consigned for it with Rae. Things were going well and she was thankful for it. Zoe came home from one of her art shows. Zoe did art at the gallery and did cosmetology on the side when she wasn't doing those she was writing.
Coming home late one night, Zoe thought it was odd that the house was dark. Rae normally sat up and waited for her. Going into the house she found the house as she left it. Turning the hall light on, taking off her jacket and shoes. "Rae Rae, I'm home." No answer. An icy chill came over. Something was wrong. She knew Rae well enough to come around. Silence filled the hallway.
Heading upstairs to the bedroom she went to see if Rae was sleeping. The bed empty still like it was since this morning. Untouched, nothing was touched. Panic started sitting in. She was fine this morning when they talked. Where is she? If she left me she would have told me. Plus they shared the mortgage on the house so why would she leave. Turning the light on the bedside table she was puzzled, then she headed to the master bathroom. Panic ran through her as she saw Rae lying on the floor. Running over to her, Zoe saw the vomit on the floor next to her, in her arm was the needle. Crying out, she just held Rae in her arms as she sobbed, Getting her cell phone out of the back pocket she called her brother Nathan hysterical. "Rae is dead. She's gone. Zoe said between sobs. "Rae is dead on the floor from a heroin overdose." Zoe was devastated. She couldn't talk anymore through the sobs. Unsure if she hung up from the call or not she just cried.
A few months passed after the death of Rae and Zoe was in a really bad spot. Zoe relapsed with anorexia. She went from a 135 pounds to 85 pounds and was still dropping. Zoe was also drinking heavily. She wanted to be numb. Nothing numbed her like heroin did. She felt nothing when she was high on it. No pain, nothing. Feeling he was losing his sites Nathan set up for Zoe to go to a treatment facility in Hawaii. It specialized in eating disorders and addictions as well as psychological disorders. It was the last resort to save his sister. "You go or you will die" he said with tears I his eyes. "And I don't want you to be another Rae."
Upon arriving in Hawaii, Zoe was checked into a long-term treatment facility. Getting the drugs out of her system was the easy part, she knew the deal. Rehab was rehab. Detox, therapy and counseling for coping mechanisms, NA and AA meeting, random drug testing to see if you were staying clean. It was staying off them that was the trick. The eating disorder Zoe was more resistant with. To be honest she felt like it was the only thing she could control. She wasn't going to let them take it way from her. She lost another 15 pounds while in treatment which lead to her getting an NG tube. It wasn't a pleasant experience and Zoe hated it. Her brother had paid for her treatment in advance. If she needed to stay longer he covered it. She had been in the facility for six months before she began to make any progress with her eating disorder.
While on a visit, Nathan brought her drafting and art supplies. She hadn't picked up a pencil since the night she found Rae. She hasn't done a lot of the things she used to do. Unsure if she would draw again she put it aside. Missing home and missing her family she wanted to go home. Only way to do that, was to get better. She eventually gained enough weight to get the NG tube out. Maintaining was the now the trick. In order to maintain weight she needed to eat. She was in the facility for 10 months before she was able to go out on an outing outside. More like she had enough strength to do stuff outside the facility. She was at 90 pounds now. Still small, but at least she was gaining. She was able to leave impatient treatment once she reached 100 pounds. She had to continue with outpatients therapy though.
Zoe liked it in Hawaii. She was surprised to find out that Nathan had moved there, with their mother. All of her things along with Rae's things were there too. It was bittersweet. She learned the Nathan kept the house in Albuquerque. Zoe would have thought he would have sold it by now because she hasn't set foot in since that night. It was a shame to let a house like that sit empty. After a few months, she began to draw and paint portraits again. Things felt like they were normal again.
Starting a new leaf and regaining the passion she once lost, Zoe continued to paint and follow her passion in art. She is writing her books. Cosmetology she also returned to. She was happy to with her family. New beginnings were soon to unveil themselves to her. For once she wasn't scared of what was to come.
